The Great Climax
Seth Byle
There came a time when the cosmic forces were out of balance. Creeping monsters of the likes you would expect to see in a horror film gathered together. Their grotesque figures of claws and teeth and putrid slime, and their presence of absolute darkness would cause anyone witnessing to lose all hope, for with their presence came a sense of absolute dread.
They assembled under the wings of their Master, the Great Dragon with scales of garnet and teeth that could slice through the soul. He had seven heads, each with ten horns, and a diadem on each head, and from his mouth spewed a great inferno of fire and toxic gas.
He beckoned his minions to take to the skies so that they may overthrow the heavens and become masters of all of creation. And so they ascended into the air, as humanity screamed out in cries of pure terror, for the end times seemed near. People ran and hid, locked and boarded their windows and doors, and concealed themselves in their basements. But their target wasn’t just the earth, but something more…
Then from on high rays of light smashed against the shadows as descended down the righteous legions in a sea of wings unfurled and flame clad blades. The Dragon and his minions fought ruthlessly against the celestials, with fire and shadow, pushing back the armies of Heaven. But then he saw him… The greatest among them. A knight in armor that shimmered like the stars, golden wings like the rising sun, feathers dancing like fire, electric eyes that pieced the soul, rings upon rings of light around his head, and a sword like a bolt of lightning.
The Dragon and the Holy Knight clashed in a cosmic display of power that if any mortal had witnessed would have appeared as a violent thunderstorm, unable to comprehend the battle that ensued. Dark fire danced off the Knight’s shield as he deflected the flames of the Dragon, both of them flying higher like two eagles fighting for arial dominance, exchanging blows faster than the speed of light, sword against teeth and claw. The Holy Knight weaved, dodged and deflected blows from all directions against the Dragon’s multiple heads in an overwhelming fashion, forcing him on the defensive. Then in the heat of battle the cosmic forces shifted when the light pierced the shadow, just as Michael’s sword pierced the hide of the Dragon as it roared in anguish and pain while the sword of blinding radiance burned the inside of his body. The Dragon was powerful, but he stood no chance, for Michael fought with the backing of the Lord Omnipotent.
With that, the Great Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, Saint Michael the Archangel trampled the Dragon under his holy sabaton as it desperately clawed and scratched at his armor, reaching for anything it could to grasp onto. And then with a flash of light Michael sent the Dragon plummeting down to the Earth as he burned in the atmosphere, striking down like a meteor leaving a crater in the ground, and one by one his minions fell with him as the angels of Heaven struck down their adversaries.
But the battle was far from over for as the Dragon and his minions fell, they poured their wrath upon humanity, furious at their defeat in Heaven.
“Descend down to the Earth and defend our Master’s creation, we cannot allow this evil to bring about the ruin of souls, for we must defend humanity in battle and deliver them from evil!” Commanded Michael to his legion, and so they did as Michael asked, descended down to the Earth to save us in our time of need and to thrust into hell all those creeping monsters. Amen.
